Ragnar Baby!!!

A few weeks ago I finally got to quit training for the Ragnar because I conquered the beast!!
Woo Woo! Who knows if I'll ever run again, but if I don't, at least I can say I went out with a bang!

My challenge began on Friday afternoon at about 1pm, I was runner #6. This was the only run out of my 3 legs that Cart was going to get to come to because he had to work, so right before my race I went to call him to tell him to head up to the end line and what do you know, my phone is out of service! Are you kidding me? FREAK!! Oh well, what can I do now? I started at the top of Avon Pass and ran down. No one told me that I needed to trail train! So I pretty much about died running a steep down hill trail on rocks and baby powder dirt! There were times I had to stop just to gain composure again because my legs would get going way faster than my body because it was so down hill.
About 2 mile into my run I see a mountain biker pumping up the hill and I think to myself, "That person is crazy! This sucks bad enough running down, let alone climbing up on a bike!" Then I realize, yep, that crazy person would be my AWESOME husband who is coming to help me get through this run! It was awesome! He rode with me while I ran till it was over! The only part that wasn't awesome was the part where he asked me if I wanted a ride and I wanted to knock him over cause........... I would have given anything to get on that bike at that point in my life! Anyways, I finished the 6.9 mile run. After I think I had a little touch of heat stroke because I was sick clear up until my next run at 11PM.
This run started at the bottom of East Canyon and went 8.1 miles up hill. This was the mother of all mothers for me! I told my van to meet me for relief at the 2 mile mark, and I could have sworn that they had forgotten about me because when I finally got to them and they told me that it really was the 2 mile mark, I almost started crying because I thought there is no way in H I can do 3 more of those! Holy Freak! I thought to myself, "I am never doing this again! I want to be in bed right now, not running up hill in the pitch black with a headlamp on that keeps falling into my eyes because I'm sweaty." It was a challenge, by the time I was done it had taken me 1 hour and 38 minutes and my legs were on fire! Ouch!! Felt so good to be done though and I felt a huge sense of accomplishment!! Now I only had my 3 mile run tomorrow morning!
Sat morning at about 11 am I ran my last leg, 3 miles in a residential area in Heber! It would have been cake compared to my 2 legs before, except for I had only had 2 hours of sleep and maybe a handful of wheat thins in 30 hours on top of already running 15 miles. When I finished that run I was so happy!

I did it baby! Even though it about kicked my butt, I ran the Ragnar 2010! We'll see what next year brings! Thank goodness my cute friend Ambe ran it with me! She had som awful runs too and so we took care of each other! :) We had a lot of fun with the girls in our van!
(Every one's telling me it's like having a baby, you can't decided if you want to do it again right after you just get done.)

Amber during one of her runs, the water fountain that is gushing a van in front of hit about 5 minutes before and it started gushing that water.

This morning McKay Dee Hospital (that so generously employs me) held a 5k in honor of their 100 year celebration. Mind you it was freaking windy and raining like crazy. But because I already paid 12 bucks to run in the dang thing, I forced myself out of bed and step into the freezing cold weather to attempt to run! I didn't know the course, but soon found out that it was 12 blocks UP hill against the wind! PERFECT!!
My cute friend from work Kayli who has been running many races this summer insprired me so I decided I'd try to keep up with here pace. I about died at the 1/2 mile mark, but told myself I couldn't give up, I had to stay with her. And guess what peeps............I did!! WOOO to me! I finished the up hill windy race in 30:41 and I felt really good about it! Thanks Kayli for being my support this race! :) Love ya!

Bug Run 2010

Me'Chel's good friend Laura put together a big race for our community!
It was a blast!
There was races for everyone and anyone.
27 mile bike ride, 1/2 marathon, 10K, 5K, and kids run!
Most of my family and our really close friends came and participated and had so much fun!
(We missed you Liese.)
Cart did the bike race and I did the 10K which kicked my trash!
I'm feeling a little depressed due to the fact that I have a lot more miles than that coming up on the 19th. Oh well!
Carter and his bff Austin crack me up cause all of a sudden out of no where they are professional bikists. Kierstin and I watched them at midnight the night before the race getting everything ready! They were like 2 boys in a candy shop. They gave us a good laugh. We love them!
Thank you McFarlands for putting on such a fun day!

From Left to Right: Garff (bike), Kamie (bike), Amber (10K), Jared (support), Sherry (bike), Kyle (10K), missing Katee (10K), Dad (bike), Mom (5K), Raysh (bike), Carter (bike), Jordan (10K), Austin (bike), Kierstin (10K), Ryan (bike), Chandler (10K), Conlee (5K)

Cart and I after the race! Sadly, this picture says it all........I think I was delirious!

Butt Bite!

So I go jogging Wednesday morning by my house.
I have a good start, I'm feeling good!
My iPod is blasting in my ears!
I see a big dog up ahead.
I try to pretend I'm not a little scared and keep running my normal route.
I see the dog coming towards me.
I think to myself, "Just ignore it."
I feel it touch me.
I feel my leg under my butt start burning.
I think to myself "Oh my HE*@ I just got bit by this freaking huge dog!!"
PANIC!!!!
Stop dead in my tracks.
Put my hands out in front of me and beg for mercy from this stupid dog that now I'm trying not to kick in the head! Cause I want to kick it as hard as I possibly can, but I afraid that I'm going to get attacked!
My leg is burning and aching!!
I talk calm to the dog that is as tall as my chest!
I am walking backwards because I don't want it to bite me if I turn my back to it.
It walks me backwards for literally probably 3 minutes!
I take my iPod out of my ears and then get even more
terrified cause I can hear how loud it's growling!
It starts trying to nip at my ankles!
I start praying out loud for help cause I am scared spitless!
3 cars pass me, not 1 stop!
All of a sudden this stupid dog sees something else it was more interested in on the neighbors lawn and runs towards it!
I am finally free!
I think I ran a 4 minute mile home!
This was the bite mark when I first got home.

This is the bite mark a day later. It's a crappy picture, but it bruised up pretty good!
