Tafton and Kudakwashe

This darling couple are both from Carter's mission. Tafton was one of Carter's favorite companions and Kuda was a sister missionary in their area. She actually from Zimbabwe as well. After they both served faithful missions, they began to write again to keep in touch, Tafton ended up bringing Kuda over to Utah from Zimbabwe and after almost a year, they got married in the Provo Temple. I love Kuda, she has a sweet kind heart! Carter loves to speak Shona to her (since she's probably the only person he has found since he's been home who can speak it back) . We made it down to their reception on Friday.
Congrats you two!
Best Wishes!

Typical Drive Inn Picture

Mouth full of junior mints, squinty eyes from the flash, hair in a sick side ponie tail to keep hair out of eyes, kissey lips to try to look somewhat cute. (I guess that's why you do kissey lips, I don't know.) = perfect night at the drive inn.
We found out our new jeep's back seats fold down and makes the perfect bed in the back! We seriously had such a fun night.

This morning McKay Dee Hospital (that so generously employs me) held a 5k in honor of their 100 year celebration. Mind you it was freaking windy and raining like crazy. But because I already paid 12 bucks to run in the dang thing, I forced myself out of bed and step into the freezing cold weather to attempt to run! I didn't know the course, but soon found out that it was 12 blocks UP hill against the wind! PERFECT!!
My cute friend from work Kayli who has been running many races this summer insprired me so I decided I'd try to keep up with here pace. I about died at the 1/2 mile mark, but told myself I couldn't give up, I had to stay with her. And guess what peeps............I did!! WOOO to me! I finished the up hill windy race in 30:41 and I felt really good about it! Thanks Kayli for being my support this race! :) Love ya!

Bug Run 2010

Me'Chel's good friend Laura put together a big race for our community!
It was a blast!
There was races for everyone and anyone.
27 mile bike ride, 1/2 marathon, 10K, 5K, and kids run!
Most of my family and our really close friends came and participated and had so much fun!
(We missed you Liese.)
Cart did the bike race and I did the 10K which kicked my trash!
I'm feeling a little depressed due to the fact that I have a lot more miles than that coming up on the 19th. Oh well!
Carter and his bff Austin crack me up cause all of a sudden out of no where they are professional bikists. Kierstin and I watched them at midnight the night before the race getting everything ready! They were like 2 boys in a candy shop. They gave us a good laugh. We love them!
Thank you McFarlands for putting on such a fun day!

From Left to Right: Garff (bike), Kamie (bike), Amber (10K), Jared (support), Sherry (bike), Kyle (10K), missing Katee (10K), Dad (bike), Mom (5K), Raysh (bike), Carter (bike), Jordan (10K), Austin (bike), Kierstin (10K), Ryan (bike), Chandler (10K), Conlee (5K)

Cart and I after the race! Sadly, this picture says it all........I think I was delirious!

SURPRISE!!

Today I walk in the house from work and this is what I see...........

Carter is so awesome! This is my birthday gift!

My birthday isn't till the 16th but he wanted me to have a present to anticipate! Bring on the birthday countdown! He's the best!! I've never had a wrapped present this big!

Any guesses as to what it could be?

Butt Bite!

So I go jogging Wednesday morning by my house.
I have a good start, I'm feeling good!
My iPod is blasting in my ears!
I see a big dog up ahead.
I try to pretend I'm not a little scared and keep running my normal route.
I see the dog coming towards me.
I think to myself, "Just ignore it."
I feel it touch me.
I feel my leg under my butt start burning.
I think to myself "Oh my HE*@ I just got bit by this freaking huge dog!!"
PANIC!!!!
Stop dead in my tracks.
Put my hands out in front of me and beg for mercy from this stupid dog that now I'm trying not to kick in the head! Cause I want to kick it as hard as I possibly can, but I afraid that I'm going to get attacked!
My leg is burning and aching!!
I talk calm to the dog that is as tall as my chest!
I am walking backwards because I don't want it to bite me if I turn my back to it.
It walks me backwards for literally probably 3 minutes!
I take my iPod out of my ears and then get even more
terrified cause I can hear how loud it's growling!
It starts trying to nip at my ankles!
I start praying out loud for help cause I am scared spitless!
3 cars pass me, not 1 stop!
All of a sudden this stupid dog sees something else it was more interested in on the neighbors lawn and runs towards it!
I am finally free!
I think I ran a 4 minute mile home!
This was the bite mark when I first got home.

This is the bite mark a day later. It's a crappy picture, but it bruised up pretty good!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a very fun filled weekend! I had to work all day Friday and Sunday, but we still managed to party hardy!
Friday night we headed up to Carter's Family property at Sourdough to camp. Ammon brought up his families honkin huge trailer and we managed to sleep 12 people in it! HA HA!! It was so funny!! The boys fished all day on Sat and Liese, Capri, and I had lots of time to bond and relax in the trailer, after lunch we went fishing with the boys! I didn't get a whole lot of pictures and I'm mad at myself!

Carter, Liese, Me, and Capri headed home Saturday night and Ammon and Dan stayed and fished the next day!

Sunday I got up and worked till 1 but as soon as I got home we threw our clothes in a bag and loaded our bikes and headed to East Canyon Resort with my family and our good friends the Hubbards. Every Memorial Day we go with them and make our annual ride down East Canyon's awesome bike trail! Carter was in the height of his glory the whole time and it was a crack up to watch how excited he was. Him and my dad spent Sunday night getting every one's bikes tuned up and ready for the next day's bike ride. East Canyon is so nice. We stay in a nice little condo that is right on the river, and there are tons of things to do! everyone can entertain themselves. There is a pool, a playground, tennis courts, hiking trails, and so on. It's just very relaxing. I must say, this year I really enjoyed the biking. I'm starting to get the hang of mountain biking and I like the challenge that this trail has. I stayed with Roo and my dad and Garff and we had a nice ride. We really had a nice time and I feel very lucky to have a husband and dad who prepared for days for us to be able to have such a nice stay! Hope everyone had a happy memorial day!

Here is Cart and Dad fixing up the bikes

Congrats Bridger!!

This is a late but very important post.
Carter's little brother Bridger graduated from Fremont high school last week.
We are so proud of him!
Krishel brought a nerf football and we all signed it and were gonna give it to him after graduation, just as a fun little gift. But then Carter thought of a greater idea. He wanted to throw the football to him when they announced his name as a graduate. Great! i was honestly worried. After contemplating and quick family counsel during the ceremony, we all agreed it would still be fun if Cart threw it to him when he came back to his chair, and since we were only 4 rows up from the bottom, Carter surely wouldn't miss.

Well the time came and I could tell Carter was getting nervous. Bridger walked back to his chair and Carter yelled "Bridge!" held up the football and chucked it to him. Carter said when the football left his hand he felt good about it! He was thinking "Okay, good release, that's heading right for his chest!" But we watched Bridger put his arms up and then put them down but follow the ball with his eyes as it flew over his head. It didn't just barely miss him, it went far over his head and nailed a kid in the head! It just so happened that the kid that it hit and a curly fro and his graduation cap went flying 10 feet behind him. Mr. Hadley went scrambling for his cap and the ball and the crowd all went "Ohh!!" I was dying but we all tried to pull it off by looking behind us and saying "Who threw that!" Too bad the ball had Bridger's name written all over it and so Mr. Hadley handed it to Bridger and everyone knew it was us! Ha ha!
Oh well, sorry Fro Kid! I promise it was an accident!
Congrats Bridger!! We love you and are excited to see what you do with the rest of your life!!
This is Bridger putting his arms back down as he realizes the football is way over his head! :)

Freedom At Last

This weekend Cart and I were able to pay off my student loan!!
It feels so so good and I am so grateful for a husband who is so smart with money and who helped me get motivated to save up the money to pay this loan off. I know that it is important that we strive to be debt free! And I feel a huge weight lifted off my shoulders!
We are so blessed!
